Sam's Club will be launching its first all-digital store this month.
The store will not have traditional check-out lanes and customers will have to use the Scan 7 Go app for purchases, according to a LinkedIn post by Rick McMahon, CEO and founder of cda Ventures LLC.
The digital store will provide space for online order fulfillment and represents the brand's quest to have 100% digital engagement.
"By embracing digital solutions like Scan & Go, AI-powered exit technology, and a pizza-making robot, Sam's Club is trying to set itself apart from competitors like Costco. These innovations not only enhance convenience for customers but also appeal to younger generations, with half of new members being millennials or Gen Z," wrote McMahon.
The news comes just about a month after Sam's Club announced it has instituted a new workforce compensation strategy that expands pay increases based on year of service and provides more predictable financial futures for its hourly associates. The new plan also creates opportunities for associates to build better careers at the wholesaler.
