Happy Monday, and welcome back everyone. We hope those who participated in St. Patrick’s Day activities this weekend are recovering well, and we also hope you were able to catch your flight, because there’s a lot of IRL retail networking going down this week. Let’s jump into it.

In events: Shoptalk kicked off Sunday, bringing together major retailers and brands to discuss the evolving industry. This year the event features exclusive content, including independent research and data from the organization itself. The four-day event is being held at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas and includes brands such as Target, Nike, and Bed Bath & Beyond.

Some of the notable speakers at Shoptalk include Dani Reiss, chairman and CEO of Canada Goose; Melissa Blandford, SVP of stores and operations at DSW; Frank Bracken, EVP and COO of Foot Locker; and Tony Spring, CEO of Macy’s.

Also, today and tomorrow, just down the Strip, Brand Innovators is hosting its Evolution of Retail Summit at the Wynn to discuss many of the same subjects.

A few of the speakers: Joe Cano, chief marketing and merchandising officer at Zappos; Daniel Folkman, SVP of business at Gopuff; and Nick James, senior director of e-commerce at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

In earnings: As we’ve previously covered, things are a little hairy in the athleticwear world, and Nike is no exception. The company will have its Q3 earnings call Thursday, which could provide a glimpse at how its comeback strategy is going so far.

The layoffs Nike announced in December as part of a $2 billion cost-cutting initiative have started to materialize, and have included senior marketing, tech, and innovation execs. Over the next three years, the company will lay off roughly 1,600 employees.

Last week, Adidas, another sportswear heavyweight, reported an annual net loss for the first time since 1992.
