Convenience chain Speedy Stop has revolutionized its in-store technology infrastructure by partnering with NCR Voyix, a digital commerce solutions provider.

The c-store was dealing with a wide range of challenges, from site downtime to constraints from an out-of-the-box POS system that had no flexibility for improving performance, according to a press release.

To address the challenges, Speedy Stop sought a more flexible, resilient, and future-proof infrastructure without the need for a costly full POS hardware replacement. It needed a software vendor that was hardware agnostic and experienced in virtualizing other retail vendor POS systems.

"We appreciate the time NCR Voyix has invested in understanding our store infrastructure. We're excited about how their platform will not only enhance performance both on the fuel forecourt and in-store but also provide a flexible foundation for adding new capabilities in the future," Josh Teinert, president of Speedy Stop, said in the release.

NCR Voyix deployed a comprehensive suite of software solutions for Speedy Stop, including NVR Voyix Edge, POS software, Kitchen Product and Management System, analytics, and NCR Voyix's self-checkout technology.

NCR Voyix virtualized Speedy Stop's existing Verifone POS and site controller hardware by decoupling the software from the hardware. Speedy Stop now runs NCR Voyix's latest POS software on its incumbent Verifone hardware.

By using software to virtualize systems, Speedy Stop doesn't need to buy new POS and peripheral hardware, which means big savings.

With the Intelligent Control Plane running in the cloud, Speedy Stop can quickly spot and fix issues remotely, keeping everything running smoothly both at the pumps and in-store. The NCR Voyix platform is flexible, allowing Speedy Stop to easily add new applications and features whenever they're ready.

As Speedy Stop opens new stores, NCR Voyix's adaptable technology makes it easy to set up and expand quickly.

In October, 2024 NCR Voyix Corp. was recognized by RBR Data Services, a research and consulting firm, as the world's largest provider of self-checkout tech.
