It’s a new year, and Chipotle is incentivizing its customers to set some goals. The fast casual chain has partnered with exercise app Strava to offer 25 Chipotle-branded road and trail workouts, offering a city-wide “buy-one-get-one” entrée offer for the city with the highest total mileage logged.
Here is what else is going on in retail:
In conferences: The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) kicked off in Las Vegas this week, and there are a number of sessions tackling retail-related topics such as AI, robotics, and in-store media. Retail Brew Reporter Vidhi Choudhary will be on the scene to report back on the biggest trends and announcements.
In earnings: Albertsons is set to report Q3 results on Wednesday. This is the supermarket chain’s first earnings call following the collapse of its planned merger with Kroger, and executives could comment on the aftermath of the deal. The company reported higher sales in Q2 and a bump in loyalty members.
Next up is Walgreens, which is reporting its fiscal year 2025 first quarter results on Friday. The retail, healthcare, and pharmacy company recently appointed Tim Wentworth as its new CEO and announced that it plans to close 1,200 stores by 2027.
