It’s fairly quiet on the earnings front this week, after Nvidia basically sucked all the air out of the room last week, so we’re starting off with 2024’s bonus day.
In promotions: On Thursday—aka Leap Day—Staples is offering deals via its newly revamped loyalty program, now known as “Easy Rewards.” Members will be able get 29x points on a number of products if they spend at least $29. To sweeten the pot, Staples is also giving out 29,000 passport photos for free—they typically cost $17.99.
Introduced earlier this month, Easy Rewards is a point-based program that allows shoppers to earn points and redeem them for certain purchases.
Its members will also have access to savings events and exclusive offers.
“Easy Rewards is the ultimate personalized shopping experience, delivering tremendous savings and value to every customer, because it’s built around their unique preferences,” Ory Adler, Staples’s VP of digital and loyalty, said in a statement. “Whether you’re ordering business essentials, technology or prints, purchasing classroom supplies on the go, or shopping for travel essentials, Easy works for you.”
In events: eTail Palm Springs kicks off today and will run through Thursday, bringing together top retailers in discussions about e-commerce and omnichannel. Retail Brew will be on the ground as well, with coverage coming soon.
Speakers include Drew Green, president and CEO of Indochino; Amanda Rassi, SVP and CMO of The Michaels Companies; and Sabrina Callahan, VP of e-commerce at Sam’s Club.
Simultaneously, the Retail Industry Leaders Association will be hosting LINK: The Retail Supply Chain Conference in Dallas, which kicked off Sunday. The event features retailers, product manufacturers, and supply chain experts, and tackles some of the biggest topics in retail supply chains, including planning cycles, store experiences, data analytics, AI, and technology.
Speakers include Sean Barbour, SVP of supply chain at Macy’s; Miguel Almeida, president of digital and customer experience at Nordstrom; and Raina Avalon, EVP and chief logistics officer at The TJX Cos.
And an easter egg: Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is a speaker for a session called “Preparing a Team to Face the Next Demand.”
